Shaping the future of Australian volunteering.

  • Client: Volunteering WA
  • Website: www.vol.org.au
  • Project length: 10+ years

VIKTOR and VIRA were built exclusively for the volunteering sector to provide all volunteering-involving organisations, no matter their size, a way to manage their organisation, volunteering opportunities and recruit volunteers.

What we did

This is one of our biggest and longest on-going projects for the Australian Volunteering sector. The original plan was to help Volunteering WA transform their Microsoft Access version of VIKTOR to a web app.  Upon successfully building this, we added VIRA, much to the excitement of the original users.

We have seen VIKTOR and VIRA grow from being WA only, to the most widely adopted web-based volunteering software in Australia, showing no signs of slowing down. It is the main interface that feeds the National Volunteering Database with over 7500 organisations posting opportunities that filter out to a number of websites using our own Volunteering APIs and widgets.

How we did it:

  • Created a public interface to promote applications online
  • Bringing together all add-on widgets to compliment VIKTOR
  • Simplifying the interface based on current UX practices
  • Investing in a 14 year-long partnership with the volunteering sector

We have been working closely with Eduka for over 14 years now building and continually developing our volunteering database and management systems (VIKTOR and VIRA). We love their willingness to input ideas into making this a product we are all proud of. They go above and beyond all the time and we are so appreciative of the work they do. We certainly couldn’t have done it without them!
